This is William Basinski's excellent new release, or this is a release of developments he made in 1982 which are just being released now. Shortwave music takes snippets from shortwave radio, often found sounds from popular songs, distorts, either by slowing them down or by letting the interference from radio do it, he loops them on tape until they frazzle up like the disintegration loops. The effect is somewhat like a mix between his disintegration loop cds and the amazing dronework of Thomas Koner. A very satisfying exploration of sound that creates a strange ambience.
