Tribe Of Colin returns with Age Of Aquarius, a set of soundsystem innovations that manage to be both terse and expansive at the same time. While unified by a broad club focus and slightly arid sonic aesthetic, stylistically the tracklist here is quite varied. ‘Alan’ is a dubwise post-punk exploration; ‘Woman Of Amazon’ is a leftfield juke tune with focus on the toms; both Funkineven and Hype Williams are recalled by the retrograde funk of ‘Paradise Lost’; if you squint then ‘Cradle To The Sunset’ could be an early Theo Parrish joint. The list goes on, the age is dawning.
