Taken from the German for ‘total field’, the Ganzfeld experiment appears in parapsychology to detect extrasensory perception in an individual — in other words, phenomena like telepathy. As well as an emphasis on numerology, esteemed Australian composer Erkki Veltheim takes this as his inspiration for Ganzeld Experiment, an extended work of heightened, meteoric intensity, as trance-inducing scrapes embed in the brain against looming drones that eventually ricochet across the skull interior.
