Chances are, if you’ve kicked about at techno parties even a bit in the past decade, you’ll be familiar with Ben Klock’s ‘Subzero’. Originally put out in 2009 as part of Klock’s Before One EP for Ostgut Ton, the tune has grown in status to become one of this century’s pre-eminent club tracks. ‘Subzero’s blend of minimal tech-house groove, insistent bass motif and unsettling percussive thwacks is a sound palette that has been reproduced countless times by countless producers over in the years since its release. Now, to celebrate ‘Subzero’s tenth birthday, we have it reissued on wax. ‘Coney Island’, a number from Klock’s One LP and previously unavailable on vinyl, makes up the B-side.
