After releases from Meze, Plants Army Revolver and Nicolo, Giesse’s HomeMadeZucchero label now issues a drop from the bossman himself. Giesse’s entry on HMZ 005 is a leftfield jungle tune entitled ‘GOJI’. While this track displays some of the more avant- and proggy leanings of adjacent genres like IDM and breakbeat, a strong pulse and hardcore edge means ‘GOJI’ feels like rave tackle first and foremost. Demdike Stare manage to repeat the trick on their slower, arguably even more out-there ‘Hypersensitive World’ remix of ‘GOJI’. Operating at techno tempo but really closer to a rhythmic noise jam, this track has shades of Szare and Oberman Knocks to it while still managing to keep its focus on the floor. ‘GOJI’ is the sound of HomeMadeZucchero co-founder Giesse refusing to mess around; as if to talk down the naysayers with the slightest of effort, the breakneck breakbeat of this 12”’s title track casts a wide net across jungle, DnB and scattered archipelagos of dub, consolidating hosts of influences into one heady jam. Demdike Stare jumps on the mix for the b-side, opening up the track to ever wider spaces with his Hypersensitive World remix.
