Initially compiled as a download only release on March 11th 2019 — Liles’ 50th birthday — each feature-length ‘track’ on the aptly named Colossus is named after every single song at number one in the UK charts on each of Liles’ birthdays, lending slanted, absurdist meaning to the surface-sheen pop simplicity of hits like ‘Where Do You Go To (My Lovely)?’ and ‘99 Red Balloons’. He’s also brought along a host of friend-collaborators to help him celebrate, like Faust’s Jean-Hervé Peron and Jon Seagrott.
