Multi-instrumentalist Sven Kacirek splits his time between Kenya and Germany, busying himself with high profile collaborations with the likes of Nils Frahm, Shabaka Hutchings and Marc Ribot. Olith Ratego is a master vocalist of the dodo style, an expressive form of singing from the Lake Victoria region of Kenya, as well as a maker of his own string instruments. The Okoddo, a five-stringed instrument, informed the sound (as well as the project name) of Odd Okoddo. Debut single ‘Okitwoye’, along with its Peter Power remix, reflect the duo’s multicultural roots, bopping with jazz buoyancy and lilting with a melancholia Ratego calls ‘dodo blues.’
