Back in 1979, Mute records were established — if you ask some people — it was for the express purpose to support their first artist patron, Fad Gadget. Coming up alongside Human League and Cabaret Voltaire, Fad Gadget — real name Francis John Tovey — became one of the very first starts of industrial music (measuredly darker than his peers). The Best of Fad Gadget takes a look back at his industrious career as an innovator, well into his new wave and synth pop years. This essential compilation features ‘Ricky’s Hand’, ‘Fireside Favourite’, ‘Collapsing New Peoples’ and ‘For Whom The Bells Toll’ (alongside Alison Moyet), as well as heaps of b-sides and rarities.
