Seance Centre release a compilation in honour of the late Robert Oumaou. Oumaou was a member of Gwakasonné during his life, a Guadeloupe-based group who largely worked during the 80’s. Gwakasonné merged folk songs with new age synth techniques and the kind of monolithic, awe-inspiring textures one finds in the work of Sun Ra. Other tracks - ‘Suzy’, for instance - are polyrhythmic drum masterclasses. Vwayaje collects some of their best work, and as such stands as a testament to both Oumaou and his band.
