After dropping the fantastic On The Threshold LP earlier on in 2019, Basic Rhythm’s hot-streak continues with new EP 2 Da Core. As the likes of Mark Pritchard and DJ Rashad (RIP) have done before him, 2 Da Core’s title-track sees the one born Anthoney J Hart joining the dots between hardcore/jungle and footwork. The union of jazz-flecked chords, breathless drum programming and ultra-choppy samples works wonders here. To make the link even clearer, Hart ropes in footwork originator RP Boo for a teched-out remix of ‘2 Da Core’ later in the EP. Rounding out the record we have ‘Get UP’ and ‘Nuh Ramp’, both of which are bass-heavy rollers that will surely turn a few heads mid-set.
