French musician BORA (Pauline Canavesio) issues her debut full-length through First Terrace Records. On Noyée (English translation: Drown) we find the Berlin-based sound artist creating a set of eerie pieces that hover on the edge of several electronic genres. Manipulated voice plays a big role in the record, and as such musique concrete/electroacoustic pieces such as ‘Ursula’ recall the likes of Rabit and Holly Herndon. When Canavesio serves up something with a more linear groove - ‘VV’, for instance - Noyée approaches the sound of Fever Ray.
