With Vancouver’s house scene experiencing a real resurgence at the moment the time feels right for a reissue from one of the city’s formative acts. Stephane Novak made a fair few records as Pilgrims Of The Mind in the 90’s and early 00’s, and new Echovolt EP Subtropiques: The Early Excursions (1993 - 1994) shines a light on some of Novak’s finest work. It’s easy to join the dots between these heady, psychedelic club takes and the new-school sound of artists like D. Tiffany.
