Put simply, Light Bringer is a definitive work of industrial techno. It’s just as fitting, having been made by two pioneering giants of the genre. The mammoth double LP documents the tempestuous live shows of Canadian duo Orphx (Rich Oddie and Christina Sealey) and UK producer JK Flesh (Justin Broadrick, formerly of Techno-Animal). Each disc is dedicated to a different occasion of elemental collaboration — one for Berlin’s Atonal Festival, the other for Amsterdam’s Katharsis gathering — lending a hapless audience a vicious reminder of just how live power electronics should sound.
