On the surface, Enfield, London native Loraine James’ For You And I follows in the pedigree of Hyperdub’s unbroken run of game-changing experimental electronics, but under the din lies a plethora of bustling influences — some commensurate, some not. ‘Sick 9’ throbs with industrial techno shadowplay, scraped and scratched by a textural quality not unlike the peeling of masking tape. Look closer, and you’ll find a disarming heaviness redolent of metal’s darkest practitioners.
