Here’s where it all began: the debut LP from garage rockers Meg and Jack White, the one that put them on the map as backwoods axemen and creators of savage but sublime guitar tunes. Co-produced with Dirtbombs bassist and Ghetto Recorders owner Jim Diamond it was hailed as an benchmark for DIY rock, with ‘The Big Three Killed My Baby’ and its deafening riffs and drums like a police entry team beating down your door. At the quieter end of the scale is jaunty piano lament ‘St. James Infirmary Blues’.
