First appearing in 1999 under their short-lived name Breaker Morant, Explosions In The Sky recorded How Strange, Innocence onto 300 CD-Rs a yer later, only to be sold at their shows. As their star steadily rose, the quartet signed with Temporary Residence Ltd. and, in the coming years, became the de facto modern American post-rock act. Meanwhile, the unofficially released How Strange, Innocence became an underground hit among fans and music forum heads, and was remastered at their behest in 2005. Years after post-rock’s zenith, How Strange, Innocence is still a monumental listen, a paean to patience, as tense as it is awe-inspiring in its dwarfing vastness.
