Having done time on Cold Recordings label, Cocktail Party Effect (Eric Baldwin) now finds himself on Pinch’s other label Tectonic. On the evidence of the Shattered Retina EP it would appear that Baldwin is out to make quite the impression. This is a set of punishing and pummelling soundsystem techno rollers, tunes that combine the needling precision of Surgeon with Pinch’s own low-end theories. Cuts like ‘Triops’ and ‘When The Gun Claps’ will be blowing speakers all through the summer.
