Still paving the way forward for South African musical representation on the global stage, non-profit organisation Africa Express, responsible for hosting concerts all over North- and mid-Africa and the UK, introduce their newly established recording imprint with EGOLI. The array of artists on the album is staggering, featuring both stars of the South African music scene (Muzi, DJ Spoko, Phuzekhemisi) and the west (Gruff Rhys, Damon Albarn, Georgia). Conceived and recorded in Johannesburg over just 7 days, EGOLI brings together the disparate music of the city and beyond, bridging vast gaps between kwaito and gqom house, electronic music, and hip-hop.
