The latest entry on Disk is a set of ultra-minimal edge-of-the-dancefloor tools from little-known irel.ier. guāng guài lì runs at dancehall tempo and features the instrumentation and sounds of minimal techno, but neither of these terms really does the music justice. Rather, the record is best understood when seen in the context of some of Disk’s other drops - tracks like ‘rok’ and ‘dhen’ are curious and evasive yet propulsively danceable in a manner similar to recent Disk releases from Bambounou, Paradon’t and Harmonious Thelonious.
