Epic and foreboding electro-techno hybrids from Polish producer Nail here. Revelation’s title-track provides the meat of this EP. Clocking in at almost ten minutes, the apocalyptic blend of vocoder-drenched vocals, synth choirs, electro beats and chattering modulars brings to mind the Pet Shop Boys’ ‘It’s A Sin’ as retooled by Anthony Rother. Nail squeezes more juice from ‘Revelation’ in the form of the ambient ‘Reprise’ and the mostly-vocals-only ‘Vocoder’ mix. Packing out the EP is ‘1987’, a Detroit-indebted track that could conceivably have been made in that year.
