Freedom To Spend’s Rimarimba reissues series continues with In The Woods, the project’s 1985’s sophomore LP. Led by Robert Cox and featuring a revolving cast of musicians, Rimarimba emerged into the post-punk soup of the mid-80’s with a sound that didn’t fit easily in any camp. Steve Reich’s busy minimalism, Arthur Russell’s artsier explorations, the fourth world style of Byrne & Eno and new age composition all get a look in on In The Woods, but none of these comparisons fully cover Rimarimba’s unique brand of art-music.
