Featuring (among others) fashion designer Gosha Rubchinskiy and Pavel Milyakov aka Buttechno, GRUPPA turn in a wide-ranging set of electronic tracks on debut LP Iz Skazki. After the stately baroque-tronica opener ‘YA I TY’ the record takes us variously through Suicide-style synth-punk (‘MESYAC’), ornate art-pop (‘SOLNCA NET’) and dead-eyed EBM (‘KALASHNIKOV A I B’). All in all Iz Skazki is a varied set that hangs together on a general sense of foreboding and Gothic half-spoken vocals.
