South African producer DJ Lag and London producer OKZharp team up for a masterful EP of shadowy gqom beauties, out on Hyperdub. Steam Rooms EP, named for the Durban underground clubs that once spawned gqom, brings together the twin scenes of both producers’ respective scenes to create a truly unique, cross-cultural sound. It zips at juke and footwork tempo with the thwomp of grime instrumentals, with the all-together-now-ness of UK rave.
