Another salvo of avant-primitivism from Slip Records here. This time it’s Music We’d Like To Hear boss Tim Parkinson contributing. Pleasure Island continues Slip’s recent run of releases that have made the most of atonality, anti-music and toy-box composition. As it was with Joe Snape’s Joyrobix and Oliver Coates & Laurie Tompkins’ Ample Profanity, this album succeeds in creating art-music that seems perennially on the verge of collapse yet still manages to propel itself forward. Micachu & The Shapes, Richard Dawson and Lolina are also invoked across Pleasure Island.
