Joe Armon-Jones teams up with drummer/percussionist KwAkE bAsS and Kokoroko bassist Mutale Chashi for new single ‘Icy Roads (Stacked)’. This is a release that’s as cool as its title suggests. The trio turn in a languid, dreamy take on Herbie Hancock-style jazz-fusion here. Armon-Jones’ recent dub-influenced releases also exert some influence on ‘Icy Roads (Stacked)’ in the track’s delay-drenched production and thick, maternal bass groove. On the vinyl flip, ‘Aquarius’ is a languid improvisatory sprawl.
