The inimitable Ras G drops the latest beat tape in his Down 2 Earth series. Volume 4 is another set of spiritual, Afrofuturist hip-hop joints from the LA producer. J Dilla and Madlib are always the first comparisons one reaches for with records like these, but there’s also some of Teebs’ meditative energy to cuts such as ‘The Grail’ and ‘Adulting’. Not for the first time in Ras G’s discography an old-school jazz-hop influence is also pretty prominent.
