Another compilation from the acid fiends at 030303 Records yields more pleasing results. The label might be suckers for a 303, but on Various IV - the fourth in their various artist series, if that wasn’t obvious - there is much more going on than just squiggly house goodness. Various IV passes through various acid subgenres, with hard techno, Braindance, Italo Disco and Legowelt-style electro just a few of the bases covered here. And the tracks of Various IV aren’t just hard either (although there’s plenty of that - try The Exaltics’ dystopian ‘What If We Could’ on this front). Case in point - Zaphyd’s bright, gleaming synth-pop track ‘Milo’.
