Amsterdam-based Zohar delivers a debut set of muck-covered lo-fi club fare through her own Zohar imprint. Zohar shows good range on this eponymous EP, keeping things DJ-friendly while also allowing herself to experiment. Opener ‘Plastic’ is the sort of skittering breakbeat techno jam we find plenty of down in Bristol these days, but other tunes here strike out for unexplored territory. ‘Mad Drums’, for instance, sounds like Sophie trying to work with some of Unit Moebius’ old gear, while ‘OT’ has the feel of a Jam City track recorded deep underground.
