Four cuts from Deena Abdelwahed’s excellent 2018 LP Khonnar get given makeovers on the Khonnar Remixes EP. Enyang Ha is first up, flipping Khonnar’s closer ‘Rabbouni’ from a juke-influenced song to an emotive deep-house tool. Lord Of The Isles follows with a take on ‘5/5’, and as one expects the producer spaces things out a bit - in his hands the track shifts from a punchy piece of minimal techno into something altogether dreamier. Ital Tek maintains the menacing feel of ‘Ababab’ while also imbuing it with a little of Oneohtrix Point Never’s techno-dystopia, and Dawan goes pretty Drexciyan on the ‘Fdhiha’ remix.
