True to form, Canadian psych heads Black Mountain stick to their guns with stadium-sized garage vibes and interplanetary prog riffs (with trippy album artwork to boot). You’ll wonder just how ‘Horns Arising’ can sound as if it was written by Black Sabbath in 1972, and marvel at how ‘Licensed to Drive’ invokes an image of Judas Priest fronted by Josh Homme. Presumably through some dark magic, Black Mountain’s Destroyer conjures all of heavy rock’s lineage at once for a demonic house party.
