Despite a relative dearth of musical scenes and a bemoaned backwater status, Irish music rose to prominence in the 1970s with Thin Lizzy, Van Morrison and Skid Row (the Dublin group, not the other one). As studios finally began popping up about Dublin, so too did the aspirations of young jazz musicians seeking out spaces to experiment.
