John Duncan joins forces with iDEAL Recordings boss Joachim Nordwall for a new LP of abstract song experiments. Conventional Wisdom is the sort of album Richard Dawson might make if he abandoned British folk archetypes and instead focussed his attention on the dub science of Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry. The manner in which Duncan’s strange incantations get caught up in the fog on tracks like ‘Soft Eyes’ and ‘Hard Swallow’ is eerie and arresting.
