On her Hyperdub debut the Philadelphia-based producer DJ Haram comes through with a set of club tackle that both indulges her interest in noise and pays homage to her Middle Eastern heritage. Cuts like ‘Grace’ combine the droning drive of gqom with the rhythm of a darbuka (a drum common to Egypt and the Middle East). DJ Haram’s fellow 700 Bliss member Moor Mother shows up as the pair remix ‘Candle Light’.
