Slip’s good 2019 continues with the debut release from Merry Peers. This duo use the trumpet playing of Brad Henkel as their starting point, but you wouldn’t necessarily think this was a brass-led record on first listen. Indeed, Merry Peers is another release that fits Slip’s remit of producing challenging yet beautiful art music. Henkel and Yoshiko Klein wring a fourth world effect from their processors, synthesisers and voices here, and what emerges comes out sounding not unlike Teresa Winter.
