Fog FM is either Anthony Naples second or third LP (it depends on whether you count 2018 mixtape Take Me With You). Having spent the 2010’s building a reputation as one of house music’s modern masters, the delightful Fog FM is a fitting way for the New York City artist to round out the decade.

At this point Naples is something of an ambassador for NYC’s contemporary clubsphere, and on Fog FM he does a superb job of carrying the torch for the city’s uniquely gritty house style. Cuts like ‘Purple Iris’ and 'Lucys' feature the sort of hard-bitten four-by-four grooves that New York artists have been serving up ever since the days of Paradise Garage. Dubby trails of reverb and delay give many of the entries here a hallucinatory feel - ‘Fog FM’s title-track is particularly good value on this front - and everything is infused with the air of streetwise chic that has been a consistent feature of NYC’s musical output.

Naples also takes advantage of the greater scope afforded by the full-length album format to spread his wings a little. Amid Fog FM’s plethora of dancefloor tunes we get the ‘Channel’ interludes. These dreamy synthetic ambiences break up the album, cleansing the palette and allowing the listener to take a breather before the beat kicks back in.

Anthony Naples’ Fog FM is another hit of the good stuff from the Incienso/Proibito boss.
