When novelist Don DeLillo wrote ‘speed is the last excitement left’ he might not have expected to find the phrase echoed by the title of a techno EP. Nevertheless, the London-based producer/DJ fronts a similar sentiment on his new drop for Shanti Celeste’s Peach Discs. It may surprise you to learn that ‘All We Have Is Speed’ isn’t actually that fast. Hovering at around 125-bpm, the track’s momentum comes from a propulsive bassline and snapping techno groove - though the strange arpeggios that interject throughout do give ‘All We Have Is Speed’ an off-kilter feel akin to something by Don’t DJ. B-side ‘All We Have Is Glue’ is lusher and more languid, the track’s watery two-step/post-dubstep vibe harking back to the early 2010’s output of R&S.
