Matias Aguayo’s first LP since 2013’s The Visitor is another set of idiosyncratic club excursions from the Chilean artist. Support Alien Invasion once more finds Aguayo playfully de- and re-constructing Eurocentric techno and house styles to create tracks that are at once futuristic and timeless, abstract yet immediate. A cut like ‘Pikin’, for instance, nods to everyone from Dengue Dengue Dengue to Ellen Allien to Lisbon’s Príncipe without ever really sounding like anything other than Aguayo.
