When the unique talents of Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad join forces as The Midnight Hour something magical happens. This is never more true than when they’re playing live and are backed by rhythm section and orchestra - the fuller ensemble setup allows the pair’s almost Lynchian blend of hip-hop, golden age soul-jazz and library music to soar off into dreamland. Live At Linear Labs, a set captured direct to analog at a concert in early 2019, is a great example of The Midnight Hour’s curious beauty.
