Though it didn’t make a massive splash when it first emerged back in 1997, Detroit In Effect’s The Unseen EP has taken on cult status in the subsequent years. It’s easy to see why - D.I.E.’s idiosyncratic brand of Detroit electro (so heavy on the vocals that it sometimes resembles DJ Assault as much as Drexciya) is exactly the sort of quirkiness that has longevity on the dancefloor. It helps that some of these tracks are groovy as hell, too. Now The Unseen has been reissued by Clone’s Clone West Coast Series.
