As a precursor to his new Soundway compilation Esa Presents Amandla: Music To The People, South African producer Esa Williams has orchestrated this two-track release of Penny Penny’s slammer ‘Shilungu’. First released in 2001 (original copies are now rare as all hell) ‘Shilungu’ sees a thick Kwaito groove provide the backdrop for Penny Penny’s super-charismatic lead performance. The result is some serious party material no matter what the year is. Esa and his pal Mervin Granger give ‘Shilungu’ a deep house tweak on their ‘99 Mix’.
