Clearly not satisfied by the extra letters in their name, Rrose has teamed up with Charlemagne Palestine for the spell-check-averse new record The Goldennn Meeenn + Sheeenn - an adaptation of Palestine’s 1976 work The Golden Mean. Once your brain has stopped spinning from all those E’s and you get round to putting this thing on, you’ll find that it’s a mesmeric thing composed for twin pianos. The manner in which the rippling arpeggios here phase, shift and melt into one another draws a clear line from Music For Eighteen Musicians-era Steve Reich. In The Goldennn Meenn + Sheenn, Charlemagne Palestine and Rrose have made a piece as hypnotic its title.
