Like a high school notebook inexplicably reproduced with great care into a prog-psychedelic opus, Tom Nehls’ I Always Catch The Third Second Of A Yellow Light is a work of prodigious genius. Name-Checking Zappa, The Beatles and JRR Tolkien as influences, there’s still no comparing this LP to any earthly material. Despite that, much of it feels incredibly human; the uninhibited creative whirlwind of a 17 year old weirdo, who only ever intended to make something his friends could enjoy.
