Stunning stuff from the likes of Mego label boss Peter Rehberg and Stephen O'Malley from Sunn 0))) and all those other bands. This is better than the first edition of this series, with the track 'Theme' is a killer, a track that builds slowly in a massive ecstatic fuzz of buzzing almost melodic noise, like a joyous digital take on black metal, the melody just held together by the relationship between tiny splinters of noise and detuned notes. It's fantastic as it reaches it's crescendo, both ecstatic and slightly frightening at the same time. 'Abbatoir' builds up with lurching buzzsaw guitar drones manipulated through a fuzz of digital effects and loops, sounding more like the rolling drone of an Indian Tambura as it falls out of focus, then getting digitally drawn into different areas of the sound spectrum. 'Snow 2 ' is all gentle guitar chords and lots of space getting buried in dusty digital atmosphere, drifting off gently with Neu like guitar figures and held chords. The best thing from both artists in a while and a truly great Mego release.
