At first listen, you think you might recognise exactly what Cygnus’ EP Deep Analysis is, but don’t mistake it for just another take on bodies in electronic space, half-lives in ones and zeroes; digital appendages, cybernetic consciousness. But there’s more here than meets the ear. Luscious ambient textures and deep house spectres coalesce with vintage video game explosions and early hip hop vocoder rap phrases. Deep Analysis is a reminder that the future rarely sounds like anything we can predict, that the digital is merely an extension of ourselves. Often, we forget that we’re already living in a hyper advanced present.
