Grauzone’s Eisbär - that’s ‘grey zone’ and ‘polar bear’ respectively - was an important single in the development of European new wave when it was first issued in 1981. The manner in which the Swiss group blended raw punk energy with a danceable beat, icy synthesisers and deadpan vocals very much set the tone for what would go down in techno, minimal wave and synth-punk over the subsequent decade. This reissue presents the complete version of the Eisbär EP, meaning that the Gothic disco track ‘Film 2’ is also included.
