Four years on from his debut LP Changes and Synkro comes through with the follow-up. Images continues down the path that the one born Joe McBride instigated on Changes. While there are still beat-driven tunes to be found across the album, McBride’s burgeoning interest in ambient and new age musics bears more fruit here. This is apparent from the warm tones that envelop you as soon as you drop the needle on opener ‘Piano\Voice’. The aesthetic bleeds into the club tracks here as well - while the shuffling garage rhythms of ‘Realize’ are classic Synkro, the dreamy textures that are draped all over the tune give it the same wistful feel that has characterised Jacques Greene’s recent work.
