French sound artist Félix Blume shatters the boundaries of field recording and dispels them into deepest mist with Fog Horns. It’s also his most fully realised work of art to date, curiously exploring themes of fear and hope by arranging recordings of boat horns from Piraeus, an essential port city for ferry routes in Athens, Greece. The horns that cut through the dense fog of its central 18-minute piece could be harbingers of doom, or conversely, the ringing in of new life.
