Another week, another superb compilation from Soul Jazz. The label’s latest focuses on Fashion Records, one of the UK’s most important reggae labels. Run by the pair of Chris Lane and John McGillivray - the latter of Dub Vendor fame - Fashion came to be renowned for both starting and capitalising on mutations in the genre. This means that the Fashion roster promoted ragga and jungle as much as it did older soundsystem styles. Style & Fashion charts the history of the imprint in nineteen tracks and includes jams from artists like Top Cat, General Levy and Cutty Ranks.
