In 2017, Hyperdub released Diggin’ In The Carts, a treasure trove of rare and pioneering video game music from 1980s and 90s Japan collated by Nick Dwyer and Kode9, following a celebrated documentary series by Red Bull Music Academy exploring the global impact of early electronic music. Now, two years and multiple live audio-visual festival appearances later, Kode9 unveils an accompanying arrangement of remixes, imbuing his trademark rapid fire bpm and underground club sensibilities into the vintage works of Yuzo Koshiro, Soshi Hosoi, Koichi Ishibashi and Tadahiro Nitta. These names or games may not ring a bell for us, but their legacy is surely sustained after this release.
