Dawn Of Midi drummer Qasim Naqvi steps up to Erased Tapes with his debut LP Teenages. The album sees Naqvi dialling back the percussion and putting a modular synthesiser front and centre. Sometimes this choice spawns pretty arpeggio pieces ala Jean-Michel Jarre, sometimes it allows Naqvi to create more impressionistic electroacoustic soundscapes. Either way it’s a rich and harmonious salvo from the Pakistani-American artist. The likes of Sarah Davachi and Caterina Barbieri spring to mind as Naqvi’s closest contemporaries.
